About Me
Before joining the NYC DOE, I served in the Peace Corps for 27 months in the Dominican Republic. Although I knew I wanted to teach in New York City, I knew this experience would help me connect better with students and families I will someday serve. During this time, I worked as a Health Educator promoting healthier practices through the development of the community’s knowledge and skills.
After being admitted to the Peace Corps Teaching Fellows Program at Columbia University, Teachers College I began teaching full-time with the Department of Education.
I am thankful for the opportunity to be a part of a school community that values collaboration and personal growth. I have served as a Grade Team Leader, Culture Team Lead, Hiring Team Committee Member, and Running Coach with New York Rising Runners Program. I am grateful that through this role, I have been able to explore and share with a school community my passions in history, culture planning, recruiting, logistics, and running. I model for my students' healthy habits.
My students always come first and I strive to create an intellectually stimulating classroom that creates an environment of high self-esteem and self-actualization for all. The use of data, conferences, and feedback is regularly implemented to help students improve. As a lifelong learner, I hope to continue developing my practice in and outside the classroom always looking for new educational opportunities to grow and push myself and my students.
